gekTerms of Use
Last updated: 7 November 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Wachiratarn Boontan ("we", "us"), who makes gek. By using gek you agree to them and to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Standard EULA"). Where the two differ, these terms apply. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.
Your account
You need an account to use gek. Keep your sign-in details to yourself; you're responsible for what happens in your account. You can delete it at any time in Profile → Settings → Delete Account.
gek Pro subscription
- gek Pro is an auto-renewing subscription, monthly or yearly. Prices are shown in the app before you buy and can differ by country.
- New subscribers may get a free trial (7 days). If you don't cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it becomes a paid subscription and your Apple ID is charged.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase (or when the trial ends). The subscription renews automatically at the same price for the same period unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your account is charged for renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
- Manage or cancel your subscription in your iPhone's Settings → your name → Subscriptions, or from gek's Settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep gek Pro until the end of the period you paid for.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its rules: reportaproblem.apple.com. Deleting your gek account doesn't cancel the subscription.
Video clips
The clips in gek are YouTube videos, shown in YouTube's embedded player and still owned by their creators. gek uses YouTube API Services; by watching clips in gek you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. We add subtitles, translations and word information to help you learn; these can contain mistakes. If you own a video and want it removed from gek, email us its link and we'll take it down.
Acceptable use
Don't misuse gek: don't try to break or overload it, reach other people's data, copy the app's content in bulk, or post feedback that is unlawful, abusive or someone else's private information. We may remove such content and suspend accounts that do this.
Our content
The app, its design, and our translations and word data belong to us or our licensors. Some dictionary data comes from Wiktionary (CC BY-SA 4.0) and example sentences from Tatoeba (CC BY 2.0 FR); those parts stay under their own licences. You may use gek for your own learning; you may not resell or redistribute it.
No guarantees
We work hard to keep gek accurate and available, but it is provided "as is". We can't promise it will always be available, error-free, or that clips stay online (creators can remove their videos). To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to what you paid for gek in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be excluded.
Changes and ending
We may update these terms; we'll update the date above and tell you in the app if a change is significant. You can stop using gek and delete your account at any time. We may end or suspend accounts that break these terms.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Australia, without affecting the consumer protections of the country you live in. Nothing in these terms excludes the guarantees you have under the Australian Consumer Law.
